The Commonwealth Scholarship 2017


The Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) is an international programme under which member governments offer scholarships and fellowships to citizens of other Commonwealth countries.
The CSFP was established at the first Commonwealth education conference in 1959 and is reviewed by education ministers at their triennial meetings. The CSFP is the only scholarship scheme in the world to receive such high-level recognition.
As part of the CSFP programme, New Zealand offers New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships to candidates from developing Commonwealth countries for postgraduate study (Masters and PhD) in New Zealand universities on a contestable basis. New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships are highly competitive and for top level graduates.
New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships are funded by the New Zealand Aid Programme and managed and managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT). The selection process in New Zealand is managed by Universities New Zealand.
Each Commonwealth government has designated a national agency for the operation of Commonwealth Scholarships.

Masters Degree (1 – 2 years)
PhD (up to 3.5 years)

The closing date for New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships is determined by each country’s Nominating Agency. Please contact your local Nominating Agency for more information.
Eligibility criteria checklist
Applicants from all eligible countries must meet the following conditions to be eligible for a New Zealand Scholarship:
I will be at least 18 years old at the time I start the scholarship
The country I am living in is in the list of eligible countries
I am a citizen of the country I am living in
I have been living in this country for at least the last two years (unless you are a member of the diplomatic corps or a dependent of a member of the diplomatic corps)
I confirm that I am not currently serving in the military
I want to study in New Zealand; or
I want to study in the Pacific and I am from Kiribati, Niue, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu or Vanuatu
I want to study at a level that is listed as available for my country for the scholarship that I am applying for
I expect to meet Immigration requirements for a student visa to New Zealand or the Pacific country I will study in (i.e. medical checks, etc.). Please check the following website for further information:

Preferences
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate strong academic ability, leadership qualities, and a commitment to the development of their home country.
Preference is also given to candidates who are 39 years of age or younger at the time of commencing their scholarship.
Preference will be given to candidates who apply to study in academic disciplines relating to priority sectors.
How to apply
If you would like to apply for a New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarship please note the following:
You may only apply using the New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarship Application form as a hard copy. Please note that applicants are unable to apply online. You must submit your application to your local Nominating Agency.
The following steps can only be completed once the online application portal opens on 1 February 2016.
Step One: Confirm your eligibility
Before you start your application, check your eligibility against the requirements.
Step Two: Decide the type of institution and qualification

Step Three: Apply for an Offer of Place
Once you have selected your institution and qualification, you will need to seek an offer of place at one of our New Zealand institutions. Please refer to our list of New Zealand institutions for further information here.
Step Four: Apply for a New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarship
Please submit your completed application to the Nominating Agency in your home country, including your offer of place. Failure to do so will result in your application being deemed ineligible. It is important to note that applications sent directly to MFAT or Universities New Zealand will be deemed ineligible.
The Nominating Agency in your country will then nominate the two strongest applications to be forwarded to Universities New Zealand to be assessed against all other nominated New Zealand Commonwealth applications from across the Commonwealth.
Documentation required
When submitting your New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarship application to your local Nominating Agency you must attach the following official documentation:
1. One of the following:
Verified copy of passport
Verified copy of birth certificate
Verified copy of other official government issued ID
2. Copy of Offer of Place from New Zealand institution
3. Verified copies of relevant academic transcripts
4. Verified copies of relevant completion certificates
5. Contact details of most recent employer and two most relevant other employers
6. A non-verified copy of an IELTS Test Report Form (TRF) which will be verified by MFAT online using the TRF Verification Service OR An original copy of a TOEFL test result form. Whichever is provided it must have been completed in the last 24 months.

Saxion Top Talent Scholarship (STTS) for International Students in Netherlands, 2014/15
Saxion University of Applied Sciences is offering undergraduate scholarship for Non-European students. IELTS score of 6.5 or higher is required. Applicants must be in or starting the admission procedure to one of Saxion’s International Bachelor Programmes as a new student in the bachelor programme. Scholarship covers tuition fee, with exception of the governmental registration fee. Scholarship is awarded for one academic year. Application must be submitted by 1 May 2014 for September 2014 intake.
Scholarship is awarded to learn any one of the course offered by the Saxion University of Applied Sciences.
Eligibility:-You must have outstanding study results, with an average mark of 75% or higher,
-You must have an IELTS score of 6.5 or higher,
-You must be in or starting the admission procedure to one of Saxion’s International Bachelor Programmes as a new student in the bachelor programme,

Tehran University of Medical Sciences International Scholarship, Iran 2014/2015
The Vice-Chancellor of Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) is offering International Scholarship. The scholarship is available for undergraduate and graduate level. The scholarship will be awarded to selected online applications submitted to TUMS regarding studying in one of the programs offered by TUMS Schools. The applicant must have obtained an undergraduate degree in the field related to her/his desired field of study (graduate level). Application should be submitted till 1st April 2014.
Scholarship is provided to learn any of the courses offered by Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
Eligibility:- -For undergraduate level of studies: the applicant must have finished high school.
-For graduate level of studies: the applicant must have obtained an undergraduate degree in the field related to her/his desired field of study.
-Language Proficiency: language of instruction will be English.
-The applicant needs to have proof of English language ability to write, read, and understand.

Scholarships of the Government of the Slovak Republic 2014/2015

Description

The provision of scholarships of the Government of the Slovak Republic is a long-term component of development assistance by the SR, which is a programme and project activity of the SR Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the framework of the international community. In 2007, the Slovak Government adopted Act no. 617/2007 on Official Development Assistance by the Slovak Republic, creating the institutional basis for the provision of official development aid (hereinafter simply “ODA”) in all its forms.
For ensuring the coordination of procedures between individual providers of SR development aid the SR Government adopted the Medium-Term Strategy for Official Development Aid by the Slovak Republic for 2009-2013 and the National Development Aid Programme for 2012 (hereinafter simply of the “National Programme”), which in point B.3 of SR Government Resolution no. 19/2012 commits the SR Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport to provide study for recipients of scholarships of the SR Government from developing countries at public universities.
The provision of scholarships of the SR Government in the framework of conditions set out by the OECD for realization of ODA includes also scholarships of the SR Government for Slovak nationals living abroad.
The Slovak Republic Ministry of Education, Science, Research & Sport shall provide a foreigner an SR Government scholarship during the standard length of studies as a student of a public university in the SR as follows:
  1. Language and vocational training – €280 monthly; €0 merit scholarship;
  2. Higher education: first degree - €280 monthly; €50 merit scholarship;
  3. Higher education: second degree - €280 monthly; €50 merit scholarship;
  4. Higher education: third degree - €330 monthly; €170 merit scholarship.

Eligibility

Scholarships are open to applicants from Afghanistan, Kenya, Moldova, Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Ukraine, Mongolia, Palestinian National Authority and Vietnam.

Scholarships for SAARC Countries in Bhutan

UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Scholarships for SAARC Countries in Bhutan, 2014-2017
The UNESCO Madanjeet Centre for South Asia Forestry Studies (UMCSAFS) at Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment (UWICE), Bumthang, Bhutan is offering scholarships for South Asian students. Scholarships will be awarded for three years Sustainable Development degree program to be undertaken at College of Natural Resources (CNR), Royal University of Bhutan in Lobesa, Punakha, Bhutan from July 2014 to July 2017. After completing sustainable degree program in CNR, students will also need to undergo one-year independent forestry/conservation/environment research related program in UWICE (August 2017- July 2018).
Study Subject (s): Scholarships are awarded to undertake Sustainable Development degree program and forestry/conservation/environment research related program.
Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing degree program at College of Natural Resources (CNR), Royal University of Bhutan in Lobesa,Punakha, Bhutan from July 2014 to July 2017. After completing sustainable degree program in CNR, students will also need to undergo one-year research program in UWICE (August 2017- July 2018).

Eligibility:
-Candidates must be class XII pass with minimum of 55% in English
-He/She should be fluent in English (both in written and speaking)

-Monthly stipend of Nu. 12,000.00 based on existing SAARC scholarship rate to cover logistics and personal expenses
-Nominal book allowance and printings (Nu. 5000.00 per year)
-In-country travel as per Royal Government of Bhutan’s rate (Nu. 150.00 per day while on travel)
Selection Criteria: South Asia Foundation (SAF) office in each country will select one candidate each based on the eligibility criteria mentioned herein and the name of the selected candidate from each SAARC country should reach to the office of the Program Director, Madanjeet Singh Center for South Asia Forestry Studies, Lamai Goempa, latest by 30 April, 2014 through SAF office in the respective country for further scrutiny and acceptance into forestry degree program at College of Natural Resources. Should the documents be sent via e-mail, it should be sent to swangchuk-at-uwice.gov.bt. The final assessment of the selected candidates from SAARC countries will be done jointly by team of committee from College of Natural Resources and Madanjeet Centre for South Asia Forestry Studies.
Notification: Based on the final assessment, candidate may or may not be accepted into the program if SAF offices of the SAARC countries have failed to follow the set eligibility criteria. The right of acceptance or rejection of candidates nominated by SAARC countries into the sustainable degree program reserves with the UMCSAFS and College of Natural Resources. The letter of acceptance or rejection into the scholarship program will be sent to SAF office of the respective SAARC country for further conveyance to the individual candidate latest by 7th June 2013 via e-mail.
How to Apply: Applicants should apply by post. All candidates applying for UMCSAFS scholarship program should submit the following documents to the SAF office of the respective SAARC country. The documents sent via e-mail  shall also be accepted. The documents should be sent to swangchuk-at-uwice.gov.bt.
